Day 3 Super Power Smoothie
This morning, I woke up feeling like Super Woman. So I decided to make a breakfast that emulated that. Behold, the Super Power smoothie. It is jam packed with all the healthy nutritious foods you would need to start your day; so much so that the ingredients lists reads like a listing for an isle in a Whole Foods Mart. So wake up to the breakfast of champions and have a great day!
- 1/2 small beet
- 1/2 apple
- 1/2 cup kale
- 1/2 a cucumber
- 1/4 cup oatmeal (cooked or uncooked; your preference)
- 15 almonds ground up
- 1 lemon
- 1 1/2 Tbsp honey
- 1/2 tsp grated ginger
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- peel skin of beet and dice the beet, the apple, and the cucumber (cucumbers are so underrated in sweet foods but they’ve got this lovely distinctive delicate flavour that makes them great for smoothies)
- grate ginger and mix into honey (this is just a little trick to get the ginger evenly dispersed throughout the smoothie)
- place everything in the blender and blend.
I have to preface what I’m going to say next with this, I absolutely adore beets! However I realize that, that is not the case for most of the population so if you aren’t a big fan of the earthy sweetness of beets then substituent more apple into the beet-apple proportion of your smoothie!
